What to expect: A warm, wood-paneled lobby with plush seating and bouquets of fresh flowers makes a welcoming entrance to this small hotel, completely remodeled in 2001. Theatergoers and travelers who prefer more intimate lodgings feel at home in this quiet residential neighborhood where the tallest building is only six stories. Walls are decorated with photos of the area.

Amenity highlights: Guests receive copies of The New York Times on weekdays and can call on the concierge for theater and other reservations. A small fitness room offers all the basics-bicycles, treadmill, and weights. Spa services and sessions with personal trainers can be arranged.
